21st November
A tough day in the field
with a blazing force 8, cold ENE wind and the occasional shower whipping
through; our efforts were concentrated on the sheltered west side of the island
but it was fairly quiet as migrants just included a Kestrel, a Merlin, a
Woodcock, a Woodpigeon, a Long-eared Owl flying round the Obs at
dusk, 4 Meadow Pipits, 11 Rock Pipits, 6 Robins, 8 Song Thrushes and 28 Snow
Buntings. Other birds of note comprised
3 Red-throated Divers, 4 Herons, 2 Pink-footed Geese, a female Common Scoter past Trolla, a Goldeneye, 7 Pintail and 9 Gadwall.
