10th-12th May

 The fog briefly lifted for just over a day, although has recently returned with a vengeance... In general migrant numbers have been lower than earlier in the week, with a few birds lingering in similar locations.

There were reasonable numbers of migrants around on 10th, including the Short-eared Owl from 8th which reappeared near Longar, 3 Ring Ouzels at Torness, 10 Tree Pipits, a flavissima Yellow Wagtail at the Links, a male Black Redstaart at Cott, 3 Redstarts, 7 Redpolls, 5 Whinchats and 3 Common Redstarts. Common Whitethroats remained in decent numbers with 11 dotted around the island, along with 3 Lesser Whitethroats also.

Black Redstart - TG

11th started with 3 Goosanders north over Peckhole, where the Canada Goose and White-fronted Goose also remained and a Chaffinch appeared. 3 Pied Flycatchers were all new arrivals, with a new Black Redstart also appearing at Quoybanks. Willow Warblers were noticeably lower than the previous day, with just 3 recorded (15 less than 10th). Presumably the same flavissima Yellow Wagtail was at Garso. 

Goosanders - TG

12th was a quiet day with lower numbers of birds and few new additions. 2 Barnacle Geese flew out to sea over Haskie (possibly some of the Brides birds departing) and 2 Wood Pigeons were at Holland, along with a Long-eared Owl. Passerine migrant totals included 1 Redstart, 1 Tree Pipit, 2 Whinchats, 27 Fieldfares, 5 Willow Warblers, 1 Chiffchaff, 1 Whitethroat and 2 Blackcaps.
