9th August

A slightly quieter day today, with most notable species coming from a sea-watch, a single Storm Petrel, 4 Sooty Shearwaters, 2 Manx Shearwaters, 167 Kittiwake, 340 Fulmar, 216 Gannet, 176 Arctic Terns. Elsewhere of 47 Sanderling, 5 where colour ringed, so we'll look into that and see where they're from!
In other news we've got a guest that a few of you may have met on your travels at various spots around the UK. He's called Gary Prescott, otherwise known as the biking birder, his quest is quite simple, to see as many birds in the UK by using only his bike, he was up here last year and is back for the rest of the month to try and add to his tally, so we'll do our best!
You can follow Gary's journey on his own blog. It's certainly worth a look, plus it's for a superb cause!
