31st May - 2nd June

The winds have changed into the west and with it the birds have mostly vacated island, although a little flurry on the final day of May gave us something to cling on to.

The 31st started with the re-appearance of the Stone-curlew near the airfield, it wasn't seen again after this brief re-appearance. A Marsh Warbler and Red-backed Shrike were both trapped at Holland before 8am and interestingly both were replacing their tails. Another female Red-backed Shrike was at Ancum while low levels of Whitethroat, Garden Warbler and other commoner migrants fluffed out the rest of the day.

The first day June saw three Tree Sparrows in the southern end of the island, the female Red-backed Shrike was still at Ancum and otherwise we were left with dribs and drabs to scrape the barrel with like the Canada Goose that still remained at Hooking

The 2nd was potentially worse, with very little to actually report, the Whatsapp was a very quite place populated by two Kestrels and an evening sea-watch with 11 Manx Shearwater, 479 Auk sp. and 30 Puffin that made a wet and windy day slightly better.
