9th June

There was little to report on an uneventful, sunny day. A Sparrowhawk and a Peregrine were both new birds; 2 Barnacle Geese and a Pink-footed Goose were the only unseasonal wildfowl; and a female Garganey was again near the mill. A couple of Lesser Redpolls were the best of a scanty selection of migrant passerines that also included 2 Siskins, a Blackcap, 2 Chiffchaffs and a Willow Warbler. Golden Plover numbers are already beginning to increase again, with a count of 23 being the highest for some time.
