14th - 15th June
Despite the easterly wind providing inspiration for birding, the total wash out of a day on 14th meant not very much was produced. Combined with fog, it was with much delight that a year tick was trapped on 15th.
In the deluge on 14th, a smart male Ruff was seen on Ancum, and also in the Ancum area was a Swift and a Collared Dove. The highlight of the day was the first Orca sighting of the year, when at least one bull and a female type were seen off the north end.
15th was a much more exciting day despite the fog, with an early Garden Warbler trapped in the heligolands at the obs closely followed by a Blyth's Reed Warbler trapped in Holland Garden, taking the year list to 181. Another Garden Warbler was trapped in Ancum Willows in the afternoon.
