14th - 16th July

Time on 14th and 15th was mostly taken up ringing Tystie pullus, with a respectable 80 ringed so far with some nesting hotspots still left to search. Bad weather on 16th meant obs staff were mainly trapped inside, but small breaks in the weather did see some birding get done.
Highlights across the dates include up to two Red-necked Phalarope on Ancum, with just a male seen on 15th and 16th. A Ruff has also been present on Ancum on all three days. A couple of Swift were seen over Gretchen early morning on 15th, and two more were seen over Trolla on 16th.
Also seen on 16th was a juvenile Stonechat at Nouster, presumably a bird having relocated from another island. The highlight of the day was a summer Little Stint on Trolla, feeding with Dunlin.
