25th - 26th April

A couple of year ticks on 25th and a big clear out of birds on 26th wasn't the big fall we had hoped for given the south-easterly swing in the wind direction.
The first year tick came when a Hawfinch flew east over Quoybanks calling, the next came when two Dotterel flew north over Breck and absolutely bombed out to sea. Elsewhere on the island, a Short-eared Owl was at Gue Park, a male Ring Ouzel was at West Beach, and 315 Puffin flew south past Dennishead hide in a one hour sea watch.
The 26th was much quieter, with a notable lack of commoner migrants noted in previous days. The day was headed by corvid movement, with a total of 39 Carrion Crow, three Rook, and 15 Hooded Crows logged on the island throughout the day.
