14th April
A
similar day again with a strong, cold SE wind scouring the island and plenty of
bright sunshine; migrant numbers were down compared to recent days but the
first Willow Warbler of the year made it through and was along the
road by the airstrip. Other totals
included a young female Peregrine which killed a Gadwall on Torness, a Dunnock,
19 Robins, 14 Wheatears, a Redwing, 4 Chiffchaffs and 3 Goldcrests. Also of note were 3 Pink-footed Geese, 2
Pintail, a Goldeneye, 6 Red-breasted Mergansers, a Hen Harrier and 4 Great
Skuas.
