11th September
A scattering of migrants were probably left-overs of yesterdays arrival but the highlight of the day was a juvenile buff-breasted sandpiper on Tor Ness for a short while in the afternoon before being spooked. A whimbrel and 2 common sandpiper at Twingness were new, as was the first redwing of the Autumn at Westness. Still hanging on were singles of pied flycatcher, goldcrest and blackcap, 11 willow warbler, 7 whinchat, 5 redstart, 3 spotted flycatcher and a song thrush. The only species to show an increase was garden warbler with a total of 6.
